# Configure your account

> Phase 2 of 3. Set up your organization so it can grow with you.

Phase 2
Configure your account

[Phase 3
Train your team](https://docs.mixpanel.com/docs/set-up-mixpanel/train-your-team.md)

## Overview

This phase sets up your organization so it can grow with you. You'll decide who owns it, what Mixpanel's AI knows about your business, and who can get in and see what. You'll do this once for your whole account, not again for each use case.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Most delays in this phase come from waiting on someone else, like the team that manages your company's sign-in. Start those conversations early, and keep working on the rest in the meantime.

**Done when:**

* Organization ownership is set
* Mixpanel's AI knows your business
* Teammates have access

## Owners

Decide who is responsible for your Mixpanel account and the data in it.

### Name more than one organization owner

Owners have full control of your organization. If your only owner leaves, you'll need to contact Support to get a new one, so name a second owner now. [Organizations](https://docs.mixpanel.com/docs/orgs-and-projects/organizations.md)

### Choose who looks after your data

Pick a person or a small group to decide how events get named, described, and approved as your team grows. ## AI context

Give Mixpanel's AI, including the Mixpanel Agent and anything you connect through MCP, the background it can't get from your events.

### Write your business context

What you write here shapes the answers Mixpanel's AI gives your team, so it's worth getting right. Cover how your business works, you measure success, and your projects track data. [Business Context](https://docs.mixpanel.com/docs/business-context.md) · [Write business context that grounds AI answers](https://docs.mixpanel.com/guides/guides-by-workflow/write-business-context.md)

> [!TIP]
>
> **Write as if for a new teammate.** If someone on their first day would need it explained, include it. Leave out anything sensitive.

## Access

Decide how people join and sign in, what they can do, and what they can see.

### Choose how people get access

Use teams if you have a larger organization with clear groups, and add people to projects directly if you're smaller. Roles stack, so a person's permissions add up. [Mixpanel Administrative System](https://docs.mixpanel.com/docs/orgs-and-projects) · [Roles & Permissions](https://docs.mixpanel.com/docs/orgs-and-projects/roles-and-permissions.md)

### Set up single sign-on

If your company uses single sign-on, set it up early. It usually involves the team that manages your company's sign-in, so it can take longer than the rest of this phase. [Single Sign-On](https://docs.mixpanel.com/docs/access-security/single-sign-on)

> [!TIP]
>
> **Test single sign-on before you require it for administrators.** If it's set up wrong and required, no administrator can sign in to fix it.

### Decide who can find your organization

Not using single sign-on? Choose whether people with your company email can join on their own, need an admin's approval, or can only join by invitation. [Organization Discoverability](https://docs.mixpanel.com/docs/orgs-and-projects/organizations.md#organization-discoverability)

### Decide who can see sensitive data

If different teams should see different data in the same project, set up Data Views. If a property is sensitive, mark it as classified so only the people you choose can see it. [Data Views & Classification](https://docs.mixpanel.com/docs/data-governance/data-views-and-classification.md)
